...Radiation in combination with Erbitux, a new chemotherapy (that had recently been approved by the FDA) began six weeks following the radical surgery. 

The photograph below shows where after three weeks, the radiation begins to make crust on my neck....

 

 

After another ten days, the entire neck, shoulder and jaw line were completely red, raw, and weeping as a result of the radiation therapy.

At the beginning of the cancer treatment in January 2006, I intentionally gained weight; up to nearly one-hundred-seventy pounds from the mid one-fifties.  The purpose was to successfully forego a feeding tube that would have been inserted directly into my stomach – against all odds – I forewent, among other things, the feeding tube.

Before the radiation therapy side effects began to subside, I lost down to one-hundred-twenty-five pounds. 

The inside of my mouth was completely filled with sores, raw and there was infection as well; I could not eat solid food whatsoever; liquids were as if to swallow a cocktail of rubbing alcohol and razor blades.

...Pictured to the right, the radiation and Erbitux chemotherapy treatment combination did not make my hair fall out; but a severe case of acne appeared and so did the shingles.
